In January 2025, I survived a near-fatal domestic violence incident at the hands of my ex-husband. I did everything I was supposed to do—I filed police charges, submitted medical documentation (including a diagnosis of cervical sprain and traumatic brain injury), and even provided video evidence of my ex-husband admitting to the abuse. Despite all this, Prosecuting Attorney Greg Brown decided not to pursue charges. This was not my ex-husband’s first domestic violence offense. Yet, despite the overwhelming evidence, the system, represented here by Mr. Brown, failed me and my children. We are now left vulnerable and at continued risk. This kind of prosecutorial inaction is exactly why victims of domestic violence feel trapped. It sends a chilling message: even when you come forward, you may still be silenced. Prosecutors are supposed to protect victims and hold abusers accountable. In my case, that duty was completely neglected. Failure to act in this situation is dangerous.
