The Law Offices of Mendez & Mendez, P.A. was founded in 1984 by Luis F. Mendez and his son, Sergio L. Mendez. Luis Mendez began his career as an attorney in 1950 working for Pan American Airlines in Cuba, before moving to the United States with his family in 1962 at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Luis went back to law school for the second time in 1969 and earned his degree at the University of Miami in 1972. Luis worked as a solo practitioner for over ten years and co-founded the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) in 1976.
Sergio would follow in his father's footsteps and joined him in 1984 after graduating from Suffolk University. For almost two decades, father and son worked side-by-side at Mendez & Mendez in Coral Gables, Florida, specializing in real estate law and commercial litigation. Luis continued to practice into his 80's and retired in 2001. Sergio continued where his father left off and established himself as a prominent probate and real estate attorney thanks to the guidance and mentoring of his father.
Daniel Mendez is a third generation attorney who joined the firm in 2014. Daniel concentrates his practice on estate planning, probate and guardianship administration and litigation, and civil litigation. Prior to joining the firm as an attorney, Daniel worked as a law clerk for several years and served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Maria Korvick, the administrative judge in the Probate Division for Miami-Dade County. Daniel graduated from Belen Jesuit Preparatory School before attending the University of Florida where he received his undergraduate degree. He went on to attend law school at St. Thomas University where he graduated with honors.
