Wilkinson, Carmody & Gilliam (WCG) is pleased to announce that Alexander H. Whittington has joined our firm as a new Associate Attorney. Alex serves as co-counsel in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters.
Alex graduated in 2019 from Louisiana Tech University, magna cum laude, with a finance degree. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate and a certificate in Civil Law studies from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi. As a law student, Alex received the Judge Robert G. Gillespie Award for Best Oralist for his advocacy skills in trial competitions around the country, including the Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC) located in New York. He also received Best Paper Awards in Legal Analysis, Pre-Trial Practice, and Civil Law Property.
Prior to joining the firm, Alex served as a Community Liaison for United States Congressman, Mike Johnson, who was selected as the 56th Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2023. As a Community Liaison, Alex worked directly with federal agencies to resolve constituent case work and met regularly with elected officials from all over the 4th Congressional District of Louisiana. In addition, Alex externed at the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he assisted in drafting final opinions and worked directly on supervisory writ applications and Post Conviction Relief (PCR) filings. Alex also worked as a summer law clerk for WCG where he gained valuable hands-on knowledge and experience and demonstrated his work ethics and skills.
Alex joined Wilkinson, Carmody & Gilliam in 2023 and serves as co-counsel in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including areas of accident defense, public utility law, railroad defense, personal injury defense, employment law and constitutional law, both at the State and Federal level.
