Based in Seattle, Attorney Trish Murphy has more than 28 years of experience in investigations, employment law, and labor relations. Since she began her career in labor and employment law in 1996, she has developed a pragmatic, results-driven approach to her practice.
A seasoned workplace investigator, Trish devotes the majority of her practice to conducting independent investigations of a diverse range of claims including discrimination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment, retaliation, misconduct, ethics violations, improper governmental action, and bullying. She has performed more than 300 workplace investigations, many involving highly charged situations with complex facts and sensitive allegations.
Trish’s investigative experience has spanned a varied array of parties and witnesses, such as executive leadership, unionized employees, public officials, students, tenured faculty, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel. She is an Association of Workplace Investigators Certificate Holder (AWI-CH), a certified civil rights/Title IX investigator (ATIXA), and a licensed private investigator in Washington and Oregon.
Trish's background includes counseling and representing employers, employees, and unions in a wide spectrum of labor and employment law issues. She also has served as a neutral for a civil rights enforcement agency.
Professional Leadership
Trish is active in the professional legal community and has held a number of leadership positions, including the roles of Chair of the King County Bar Association Labor and Employment Law Section and Chair of the Pacific Coast Labor and Employment Law Conference. She was a Trustee of the KCBA Labor and Employment Law Section from 2008 to 2017 and chaired the Mary Ellen Krug Scholarship Committee from 2010 to 2017.
Education
Trish holds a juris doctor from the University of Washington School of Law, where she served as an editor of the Washington Law Review and received the Mary Ellen Krug Award for excellence in labor and employment law. She earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
