  Representative Matters: Won summary judgment on behalf of an insurance company against a $17 million claim for coverage in connection with an SEC investigation against the insured. The US District Court for the District of Massachusetts dismissed the complaint, agreeing that the plaintiff received the order of investigation before its policy was active.
  Won a complete dismissal at trial on behalf of a law firm in a malpractice action arising out of a $300 million patent matter in which the plaintiffs alleged that the firm failed to timely
  properly file a patent application
  obtain patent protection for their invention. After a nearly three-week trial in federal court, the court dismissed all claims against Andy's client, while the co-defendant law firm
  lawyers were found liable.
  Secured summary judgment on behalf of an insurer in an insurance reimbursement claim brought by a corporate housing services provider who paid a third party for property damage
  then sought reimbursement.
  Negotiated a favorable settlement for an insurance agent who was accused of negligently allowing the plaintiffs' life insurance policy to lapse in which the client paid less than 4% of the policy's actual value.
  Represented an executive in a non-compete dispute with his former wealth management/accounting firm in which the firm asserted that the partner solicited clients in violation of his employment contract. Andy
  the Ropers Majeski team successfully negotiated the resolution of all disputes on terms favorable to the client that permitted him to continue to service all prior clients with no restrictions.
  Won a motion for summary judgment on behalf of an insurance company in a claim by a venture capital firm seeking coverage for proceedings before UK pension regulators to recover a shortfall arising from a pension scheme, which was then affirmed on appeal.
  Represented the defendant insurance provider in a bad faith suit arising out of the denial of coverage under a professional life agent
  securities broker/dealer policy.
  Defended an insurance company in a case involving three separate claims for coverage under a Professional Liability General Partnership issued to a real estate development company. During discovery it was determined that the insured was aware of the potential claim by the former partner before the policy was issued,
  the insurer brought a counterclaim for rescission of the policy based on material misrepresentations,
  the federal court granted the insurer's motion for summary judgment rescinding the policy.
  Successfully defended a global technology company
  one of its senior executives against claims of sexual harassment
  retaliation. After a one week arbitration, all claims against Andy's clients were dismissed.
  Successfully represented a senior executive of a global media research firm against claims that he violated his contract by starting his own competing business. Andy negotiated a resolution by which the executive was permitted to continue to service his clients with his new venture, which has now become one of the most respected media research firms in the country.
