"I hired Clay Simpson for a serious criminal matter and paid $4,500. It was the worst mistake of my life. He met with me only twice (after I drove 2 hours to see him) and spent our 30-minute meetings trying to convince me that 'prison isn't that bad' instead of discussing my defense. While I was trying to give him evidence of a forged search warrant and illegal warrantless searches by the Drug Task Force, he and his office blocked my phone number and screened my calls for over a month. He then went into a private chambers meeting with the Judge without me present to trash my character. Most shocking was his double-dealing: he told me to accept prison, but later admitted to my new attorney that I actually had a 'great defense case.' He refused to mail my discovery file because he 'didn't want to pay the postage,' only dumping the files on me the day he withdrew from the case.
