My daughter and myself were in search of a Lawyer to handle her Divorce Case. Went on-line the name Modern Law caught my eye. Called them and set up a 1 Hr. Consultation. The lawyer Dannie pleasantly greeted us. She was very professional and knowledgeable. Not only presenting to my daughter her viewpoint for safety of the kids, but her ex-husbands view might be different. She answered all questions very intensely and in no big hurry to rush threw the consultation. I would recommend Modern Law and Dannie to anyone looking for any family law situation. 9-14-2022
THE WORST FIRM! Modern Law seems to be more worried about social media and appearances rather than the actual job being done for clients. Their social media is all fluff. Billie talks big on social but none of her attorneys can pull it off. This firm is lazy and unorganized. I had two motions submitted on my behalf without even being able to approve them! They bailed on me less than a week before one of my hearings and over billed like crazy! Billie insulted me on a call bc I said I was unhappy that I showed up to court on camera and my own attorney Katie didn't appear on camera with me. She called in. What am I paying for? If you need a decent document prepared for you and returned to you at the last minute then go with these guys. But they are not interested in rolling up their sleeves and fighting for you. They have been in the game too long and are only interested in over billing you without having to do much work. Sure they are nice to you but I need someone to get the job done.
Not only did I waste time and money, but my child was put in an even worse situation based on this firms actions. After no one from their firm was able to correct a major error on their end that has irreparably damaged our family, they are withdrawing services and leaving us with massive debt, an open emergency case, and zero representation.
This firm is awful. They are only out to make money and do not care about anything else. After taking a $20,000 retainer I was overbilled and recieved very little legal help. My lawyer , Laura was just apathetic. She actually encouraged me to settle with my ex without him completing financial disclosure. It was a high net worth divorce and she definitely did not protect me. I’m grateful I fired her , but lost $ 23,000 and six months in my divorce.
DON’T BE FOOLED BY THE SOCIAL MEDIA… this firm is the used car salesmen of the legal world. Modern Law is more worried about social media and appearances rather than the actual job being done for clients. Do your research before wasting your money on them. Read the Google reviews. Any five star reviews this company gets us from pro bono cases they have done. They do the work in exchange for a 5 star review. Billie only cares about her appearance on social media. This firm took me for an $11k ride. I ended up dropping them and going with a phenomenal attorney straight out of law school. She won my case and got me attorneys fees. Modern law makes your legal troubles worse. They intentionally stir up conflict to get more billable hours. Just do your research on them. How these people sleep at night is a mystery.
This firm is awful. I have never had a worse experience with attorneys in my life. They over-bill and only care about their appearance on social media. It’s all smoke and mirrors with Modern Law. I can guarantee if you give this firm your hard earned money you will regret it. They are the worst of the worst. Read the 1 star reviews on them. They are all telling the truth.
I am posting this review on both Modern Law &I Do Over, as it seems these 2 businesses are intermingled. My direct experience was with Jen Bone with. My ex-husband and I retained her to do a modification to our parenting agreement. I have never been through any type of mediation before, so I really didn’t know what to expect. We had a few initial zoom calls after we retained Jen. Right from the start things seemed unorganized and unprofessional. While she was retained, she cancelled appointments on more than one occasion, last minute or after the set appt was to start, and I would be waiting on zoom. I found it odd that one time after one of the canceled appts she sent me a gift card? Another time she texted my ex-husband directly and told him to tell me sorry she couldn’t get on the zoom call; she was at the vet. At this point she started to lose credibility with me, as for an impartial party who is supposed to be neutral- why was she texting him directly?
