William (Bill) J. Hunter, Partner, focuses exclusively in the areas of trial work and litigation. Mr. Hunter maintains the highest, preeminent AV® rating for legal ability and ethics from Martindale Hubbell, the most respected legal rating agency in the country. Over the past several years, he has successfully represented plaintiffs who were severely injured or killed in cases against product manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, trucking companies and large industrial or construction companies. Many of these cases involved explosions or other complicated mechanism of injury, including the catastrophic failure of equipment. Mr. Hunter also regularly defends physicians in Savannah and across south Georgia who are sued for medical malpractice. In addition to cases involving injuries, Mr. Hunter does trial work related to serious business disputes, including business litigation claims related to the misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of fiduciary duties. Born in Arkansas, Mr. Hunter came to Savannah in 2003 and has been with Oliver Maner since that time. Mr. Hunter is a member of the Georgia State Bar, where he was recently appointed to the Bench and Bar Committee, and a member of the Savannah Bar Association. In addition, he is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, an organization whose mission is to preserve the right to trial by jury. Mr. Hunter is routinely placed on lists such as Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America, Legal Elite and others, and has been named the "Savannah Lawyer of the Year" by U.S. News' Best Lawyers in multiple practice areas. He is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Georgia and has had multiple cases in many other states. Mr. Hunter has done pro bono work in multiple jurisdictions across the United States seeking the early release of non-violent drug offenders pursuant to the First Step Act. In 2016, Mr. Hunter was elected to the Board of Directors for Union Mission, Savannah's leading organization for providing assistance to the homeless, on which he continues to serve today. He has served on the administration board of his church, Wesley Monumental. He is formerly a board member and executive committee member of The First Tee of Savannah.Mr. Hunter is also a certified agent with the National Basketball Players Association which represents NBA and G-League players.
