J.D. Maines is a seasoned attorney with a strong background in criminal law, bringing a unique perspective as a former prosecutor in both South Carolina and Georgia. Born in Savannah, J.D. graduated cum laude from Clemson University in 2004 with a degree in Economics and Accounting, before earning his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2007. J.D.’s career as a prosecutor includes notable roles as an Assistant Solicitor in South Carolina’s 16th Judicial District and an Assistant District Attorney for Chatham County, Georgia. In these positions, he specialized in handling serious drug cases, asset forfeitures, and wiretaps, and served as a senior felony drug prosecutor. His experience as a DUI prosecutor in both states further honed his trial skills. J.D.’s extensive prosecutorial experience allows him to effectively defend clients facing serious charges, knowing how to dismantle the very cases he once built. He also practices in personal injury and mass tort litigation, and recently achieved a significant victory before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. J.D. is admitted to practice in Georgia, South Carolina, and federal courts, and serves as Of Counsel with The Nye Law Group, P.C.
