About Marco Clayton Brown

I still remember the day a good friend called and asked me to help her get divorced. Hers was a very difficult situation, and while I had never done a divorce before, I knew I needed to take her case.

The night before I met with her, I stayed up until 3 a.m. reading everything I could about family law. Whatever I read that night worked because we got a great result.

Honestly, I had never thought about being a divorce attorney before my friend’s case. After her case, however, I was hooked.

At this point, I have to back up for a moment. I grew up in a little village in Alaska (and by little I mean 85 people little). Kids from places like that don’t become successful lawyers. Thankfully, however, my parents expected big things of their boys. They expected us to be like our grandmother, who had a doctorate and was a special education professor. We were to be educated and serve our communities. That was our duty.

I had searched since I was young to fulfill that duty, and I had done okay at it. I served a mission for my church in Italy. I worked full-time with intellectually impaired individuals for years. I clerked for judges in the third district in Iowa after law school.

All of that was great, and I loved it. But it wasn’t until I helped my friend that I found what I had been looking for in the law. Helping families successfully transition during such a difficult period was necessary, fulfilling, and important work.

Since finishing my friend’s case, I have dedicated myself to becoming the best divorce and family law attorney possible and developing the best family law firm in the United States.

Outside Work

When I’m not working, I hang with my family. My beautiful wife, Demaree, has a doctorate in vocal performance. In other words, she sings opera (yeah, she’s the one everyone likes, and I’m the lawyer). My son is a ham who loves bowling and often refers to himself in the third-person.

I also read. A lot. Like geek amounts a lot. It’s usually about history, law, or business. I don’t read much fiction, but when I do I prefer Steinbeck and Kafka. (I already used the word “geek,” right?)

I cook too — Italian mostly, because it’s awesome. My favorite food is pizza. (Not Domino’s or Papa John’s; the real stuff you find on spaccanapoli in Naples.) Pizza is how we know God loves us.

And to keep weight off while I read and cook, I hike or lift weights.

When possible, we vacation as a family in Europe. There’s nothing quite like walking the old streets, smelling the pastries, visiting the museums, and soaking in the amazing cultures.

Thank you so much for letting me introduce myself. I hope our website and our firm provide you the knowledge and service you need to be successful.

They were excellent at explaining everything that could come. Do to the explanation I decided not to pursue the case. Let me explain, they lost money by telling me the truth. How many times does that ever happen in life. It’s refreshing to know they have and use ethics. I feel much better now and you should too.

Marco is a breath of fresh air among attorneys. He's trustworthy, responsive, and knowledgeable, not to mention zealous and passionate. He's the guy I'd call if I was in trouble. I know he'd answer the phone right away, and I know he would know what to do. He's the guy I trust.

The Brown Family law firm is the equivalent of injury lawyers chasing after an ambulance in family law. They cannot wait to profit off of whatever drama your ex is putting you through. If you're like me and think maybe they charge more than average because of their experience and that they will be efficient, you'd be wrong. Instead, they will figure out creative ways to nickel and dime you. I dreaded having to deal with them and stuck with them throughout the ridiculously long process. Along the way, they rarely sought my feedback and when it was given, it was ignored. They filed 1 document late and I was penalized for this in court. In the end, my final document was written in a way that cannot be enforced by ORS and is therefore useless. This has resulted in me having to seek other representation to be able to collect money due. I attempted to use their complaint resolution process by filing a complaint over a month ago, sent a follow-up email and still haven't heard anything back.

They “say” they are working on your case. Take your money, & waste your time. Hired them to get child support & a no contact parenting plan. They did nothing & now I’m set up for trial…for child support; which is statute.

WOW. These reviews below are fake. 100% fake. That’s why there’s so many. To drown out the honest reviews. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made hiring these guys. I did a very expensive consultation with a man who seemed competent. At the end of the meeting, he informed me I would be pushed off to another attorney because his case load is full. I got an attorney who is not fully licensed. She has a supervisor that everything has to be approved by. It’s taken her weeks to come up with my divorce petition. I was told my attorney is "good friends" with the GAL, so during court, when my attorney couldn't make it, the supervisor showed up and did the opposite of represent me. She refused to object to anything the GAL said. These guys are awful. Huge waste of money. Almost $5000 later, and I still don't even have a divorce petition in my hand. Unbelievable. They ignored my emails and ignored my requests to file petitions. I never thought I'd be fighting my lawyer more than my opponent.

They pass you off. The “ assigned attorney” is NEVER available. In court does not even object to other sides lies. Paralegal rarely responds. They just want you to sign on the dotted line. Then be prepared to LOOSE EVERYTHING.

Marco Brown is a terrible attorney and an even worse guardian ad litem. He’s both dishonest and incompetent, you’d be better off trying your own case. Disgusted with his lack of professionalism and skewed moral compass. RUN!

The incompetence of this law-firm is astounding. I would not wish them on anyone. Choose a better law firm. They lost my case, showing up without the experience and knowledge needed. I would have had a better result without them there as the attorney, Jason, took up a bunch of time siting irrelevant case information and completely missing the points needed to win the case. They charged me over $3,000 more than they said and even then I was owed a refund form my retainer and they never paid me it. Marco, the owner, has ignored my attempts to reach him and the "supervisor" that I initial met, Nathanial, has never responded after the initial meeting. Save your money. Save your time. Save your headaches. Ignore their paid for reviews. This is a -1 star firm.

They will lie to you, overcharge you, and then completely ignore you. They ruined my case with completely poor attorney work. Their Jason Crawford should be fired...no disbarred. Along with Nathanial Garrabrandt. Jason charged me over $5,000 for about 8 hours of work, and now they have ignored my efforts to discuss the overcharges.
