Walter Hammon makes a regular practice of suing his former clients. A quick search in Santa Clara County Court Records reveals he has sued or been sued by at least 20 former clients. I believe happy and satisfied clients don't need to be sued ... but when a client feels misled or like they didn't receive value for their money or didn't get good legal representation this can certainly lead to a dispute. Before retaining Hammon ask yourself if you want to be added to the list of his targets at the end of your case. Reading the reviews and cases indicates he demanded clients empty the College Tuition funds setup for their children, liquidate their IRA or sell their house to pay him even if he doesn't achieve results. I do agree attorneys are entitled to being paid if they do good work - but my experience with Hammon and that of the various other victims - was that he was unresponsive, didn't resolve issues, and had unethical billing billing practices. Caveat Emptor.
Walter is a nice guy who doesn't resolve legal cases. Walter doesn't obtain results for his clients. Walter has his staff write letters [to you and opposing counsel] and mail them. Walter's expertise is delaying resolution, writing letters and billing his clients. If the opposing party begs to settle, or fails to show up in court he may resolve one issue - but he always leaves something hanging and un-resolved so he can continue billing you for another 9 months. Nothing moves quickly in the Court system - and Walter leverages this to drag out billable hours over months and years - writing letters but never resolving the case. You can check the Santa Clara County Court Portal and search under his name to see how he has more than 50 active cases. Each of his clients gets billed thousands per month. He keeps low overhead by having unskilled staff in his office who are there to type and mail his letters 3 - 5 separate letters for each issue which only creates a big bill.
This attorney does not allow email contact with himself and all correspondence is prepared by his staff and stamped with Walter Hammon's name. I left him as a client when I realized that I was basically being represented by his young inexperienced staff, paid to generate conflict in my divorce, and not an attorney. However, I was being billed attorney rates per hour.
