Brian graduated from University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree.

With extensive experience in appeals, family law, civil litigation, and criminal law, Brian is able to understand the intricacies of the legal system and how to best guide his clients through the process. Brian has handled a few appellate matters for me. In all instances Brian has shown substantial legal knowledge and experience and was readily able to conduct further research related to the specifics of my case. He carefully considered my input and incorporated my ideas and preferences whenever possible. He always took my calls and/or returned my messages promptly, and his billing practices were very reasonable. He will find the best appellate strategy and treat you well through the process.

Mr Beckwith is more than responsive and competent during all of my issues in my divorce/custody. He is highly knowledgeable of the law and approached representation as an opportunity to have me understand the law for my needs. This was incredibly empowering. Whereas other attorneys seemed to patronize, he seemed to inherently appreciate that an empowered client is a strong client and easier to represent. His demeanor was approachable and he is incredibly fair.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

• Distinguished: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates the attorney is widely respected by their peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards.
