Lauren Haas advises domestic and foreign clients on regulatory and compliance matters as a member of the firm’s food and drug practice group, with an emphasis on food additives, wine processing aids, and food and drug packaging. She assists clients in establishing clearances under U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, as well as its foreign counterparts. Lauren also advises food packaging companies, as well as their suppliers and customers, on a wide array of legal issues related to packaging components, including polymers, adhesives, printing inks, and color additives.
With an undergraduate degree in Sustainable Agriculture, Lauren has a unique perspective with respect to scientific issues related to legal and regulatory requirements governing environmental issues. She advises clients on environmental claims for food contact materials, compliance with state and local plastic bag legislation, California’s Proposition 65, the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act (SB 54), and other legislation that relates to recycling and sustainability.
While in law school, Lauren was an Executive Production Editor for the Hastings Environmental Law Journal, the Educational Chair for the Hastings Food and Wine Law Society, and a Teaching Assistant for Legal Research and Writing for Masters students. She also served as a Legal Intern for a law firm specializing in Alcoholic Beverage Law.
