John D. Maher is an associate in Lieff Cabraser’s San Francisco office with a practice focused on digital privacy and consumer protection.
John’s work encompasses digital privacy litigation in the United States and European Union against Google, Meta, Oracle, and others, including In re: Google Location History Litigation on behalf of users whose locations were unlawfully tracked by Google, a suit against Oracle based on the company’s intrusive consumer profiles which yielded a $115 million settlement, and ongoing litigation against Meta based on its “Pixel” surveilling visitors to the California Department of Motor Vehicles website.
Prior to joining Lieff Cabraser, John clerked for Judge Lucy H. Koh at the Northern District of California, and Chief Judge Diane P. Wood at the Seventh Circuit. He is a San Francisco native and Berkeley Law graduate, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and Editor-in-Chief of Ecology Law Quarterly. John lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughters.
