Dustin Whittenburg earned his JD, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law in 2003, and a LLM in Taxation from New York University School of Law in 2006. In addition, he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship, as well as serving as an articles editor of the SMU Law Review Association. Prior to attending law school, he received a BBA (accounting & finance) and a MS in accounting from Texas Tech University.

Following his graduation from SMU Law School, Dustin Whittenburg practiced as a litigator at a Dallas-based firm. After graduating from NYU Law School, he worked at Cox Smith Matthews, Inc. where he generally focused on complex tax planning matters, federal and state tax controversies, counseling non-profit organizations, and executive compensation proceedings. He has represented hardworking taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and Texas Comptroller, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court and federal district courts. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court, Federal District Court of the Western District of Texas, and the Federal District Court of the Northern District of Texas.
