Attorney Blanca E. Zarazúa’s story is rooted in perseverance and opportunity. Her father, Aquilino Zarazúa, came to the United States in 1945 as a Bracero, and with his support, she pursued a formal education and became a California attorney. She has maintained her own practice in Monterey County since 1987. While still a student, Ms. Zarazúa gained valuable experience working at Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, D.C., and with Goodrich, Little, Riquelme & Associates in Mexico City. After law school, she clerked for the California Supreme Court in San Francisco. In 2003, Mexico’s President Vicente Fox appointed her as Honorary Consul of Mexico for Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, a lifetime designation. She has also served as an international adviser to the Monterey Institute of International Studies (now Middlebury Institute). Her education includes Pitzer College, an MBA from UC Berkeley, a JD from Santa Clara University, and a Master of Taxation from Golden Gate University, plus studies in Oxford, Rome, and Guadalajara. In 2017, she helped secure one of California’s Top 20 settlements, winning over $1 million for Latino plaintiffs whose vehicles were unjustly seized by King City police.
