Robert H. Johnson helped found the firm in 1981 after a distinguished career that began in a Wall Street litigation firm. Before reentering private practice in Sacramento, he served with the U.S. Justice Department as a Senior Trial Attorney in the Civil Rights Division and as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and was the Administrative Assistant to the Majority Leader of the California State Assembly.
Bob has been rated AV by Martindale-Hubbell for many years. He is also a member of Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court and a Charter Fellow, Litigation Counsel of America.
Bob focuses on employment law, errors and omissions defense, public-entity defense, products liability, and complex business litigation.
In addition to his practice in California, he has tried cases or appeared before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle District of Alabama, the District of Nevada, the District of Kansas, the Central District of California, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Bob has served as a pro-tem settlement conference judge in Sacramento and Placer counties, a judicial arbitrator, and a private mediator. He has been an adjunct professor at McGeorge Law School, has written and lectured on practice management and client service for the Practicing Law Institute, and has been active in community service and several presidental campaigns.
