That said, my experience felt very transactional early in the process. Before any meaningful consultation or strategic discussion could occur, I was asked to provide a fairly significant retainer. I understand firms need to protect their time and resources, but as a prospective client it was difficult to evaluate whether the firm was the right fit without even a brief substantive discussion first. I ultimately chose to move in another direction and was able to resolve the matter without litigation. While the communication was professional, I think there is room for improvement in the initial client experience and consultative process.
