Mr. Romeo’s practice includes representing institutions and employers in the defense of workers’ compensation matters as well as advising and representing municipalities in labor, employment, and general civil matters as they relate to municipal government. Prior to joining Ryan Smith and Carbine, Mr. Romeo served two terms as the City Attorney for the City of Rutland, Vermont and as a deputy prosecutor for Rutland County prior to that. In both positions, he tried cases and handled appeals before the Vermont Supreme Court. As City Attorney, he served as the City’s Chief Union Negotiator in addition to representing and advising all boards and officers of city government in all matters. While in law school, Mr. Romeo served as a law clerk for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee under then‐Chairman Senator Patrick Leahy.
