About Virginia B. Joehl

Virginia B. Joehl graduated from the University of Maryland in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She completed clinical work in family counseling and behavior modification. In 1991 she returned to school to pursue her Juris Doctor (J.D.) at the University of Baltimore.

Virginia gained her first experience with trial work as a student attorney in the Montgomery County State’s Attorney Office. In 1995 she received her J.D. and was associated with a renowned general litigation practice for the next six years. Thereafter, Virginia began a successful solo practice focusing on family law litigation. In January, 2007 Virginia joined a well respected family law firm in Rockville as a senior litigation associate and has since focused her practice exclusively on highly-contested family law litigation.

In 2017 she launched Joehl Law, her own practice, continuing her focus on high-conflict family law matters. Virginia is also a court-appointed representative for children in contested custody cases and a court approved mediator in custody cases in Montgomery County. Virginia recognizes that divorce is not only a legal event, but a social, financial, and emotional one as well. She is a compassionate counselor and zealous advocate who uses her psychology background and training to better understand and serve her clients needs as they transition through changes in family structure. Virginia has been described as "tenacious, dependable, and trustworthy," a combination of traits she readily puts to use for the benefit of her clients.
