I was told statements implying that my reluctance meant I cared more about the other parent’s feelings than my children’s safety. I left the meeting visibly distressed and unsupported. Given the sensitive nature of these situations, I expected a trauma‑informed, client‑centered approach. This experience was not a good fit for me, and I would encourage others to trust their instincts and seek counsel that respects their pace and agency.
