Matthew B. Neufeld is an attorney with Varner & Brandt’s Labor & Employment and Business Teams in Riverside. Matt represents and advises California employers in all aspects of state and federal employment law and serves as outside general counsel to businesses throughout Southern California, coordinating legal services across the firm’s practice areas.
Matt regularly responds on behalf of clients to complaints and investigations from the California Civil Rights Department, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Industrial Relations, Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board, and other state and federal agencies. He also assists in defending employers of all sizes in wage-hour class action and Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) litigation matters, and represents clients through all phases of business and employment-related litigation.
Matt earned his law degree from William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. During law school, he gained experience in employment law and public service, including work with a plaintiff-side employment law firm, the William & Mary Veterans Benefits Clinic, and as a legal extern with the California Department of Justice, Employment & Administrative Mandate Section in Los Angeles.
Prior to law school, Matt graduated with highest honors from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance. His time working for Riverside County’s Economic Development Agency sparked his interest in assisting small and mid-sized businesses in the Inland Southern California community he now serves.
Outside the office, Matt enjoys golfing, traveling with his wife and son, and watching the Lakers.
