About Mark Bruce Michelsen

Mr. Michelsen has been practicing law in Virginia for nearly 25 years. He has practiced in Federal and State Courts where he has handled criminal and civil cases. He has an extensive background in a variety of areas of law and has litigated numerous cases throughout the Commonwealth. Mr. Michelsen has been a speaker at bar association seminars and was honored to be a guest speaker at the Supreme Court Judicial Settlement Conference for Judges. He has served as a board member and Treasurer of the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar Association and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Mr. Michelsen currently focuses his practice on domestic relations law wherein he handles a variety of divorce cases, including complex equitable distribution cases involving business valuations. A majority of his practice involves litigation; however, Mr. Michelsen is also a Collaborative Law Professional and is trained in mediation and participates in dispute resolution conferences as an alternative to court for a number of his divorce cases.

Hired Attorney

Mr. Michelsen helped us during a very difficult time. He represented our daughter and took care of our whole family. She was a juvenile, we were scared & he ensured all were informed. He was available, kind and a true educator. He made sure we were comfortable and aware of the legal processes as he advocated and represented without judgment. Hired Attorney

Mark did an amazing job on my child custody case. I am a single mom of four young children. He demonstrated compassion for my situation and fought hard to protect my children. He was ultimately successful in securing full legal and physical custody for me and limited visitation by their father. His fees were extremely reasonable for the services provided. His advice was always excellent and practical. I always felt he had my best interests in mind.

Hired Attorney

Far more concerned with his hourly fee than my plight. He took advantage of a single Mom of 2 children with limited resources, coerced me into not firing him several times, told me in an email the firm would work with me over my exorbitant bill (never met with him face to face, either).After paying some $7000, he turned the last $2000 over to a collection agency and was unsuccessful in collecting back child support...the reason he was hired.Find someone with your best interest at heart.
