This GAL had an opportunity to protect the child and could have and should have spoken on behalf of the child but didn't. Instead she advocated on behalf of the abusive parent because she was the mother. The child was sent back to the abusive parent and step parent and is now exhibiting social challenges and alienation from the responsible parent by the abusive parent and step parent. I have seen the positive affect GALs in the past can have when they advocate on behalf of the child. This is the first time I've experienced or seen a GAL advocate for a parent and not the child they were assigned. Much of what she did was negligence. I do not recommend using this GAL if your child is in crisis.
Very bad experience, used and abused her position and took a case personally leaving 2 innocent and neglected children in the hands of irresponsible and endangering adults while the other parent had more than ample evidence but that was purposely neglected in his case on behalf of Mrs. Pilcher.
