Kevin A. Darby, Esq. obtained his B.A. degree at the University of Nevada, Reno. From there, Kevin attended The University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctorate degree, With Distinction, graduating in the top ten-percent of his law school class and earning a position on the Dean's List for all three years of his legal education. Mr. Darby was also named to the Traynor Honor Society and was a recipient of the McGeorge Scholar Award Scholarship, Walter Alexander Memorial Scholarship, Verne Adrian and Annabel McGeorge Academic Achievement Scholarship and Nevada Endowed Scholarship.
Mr. Darby began his legal career at Woodburn & Wedge, the oldest law firm in the State of Nevada. While at Woodburn & Wedge, Mr. Darby's practice focused on representing creditors and secured lenders in bankruptcy proceedings and litigation matters, as well as representing business in various corporate matters. Mr. Darby thereafter accepted a job offer with Downey Brand, LLP, a large multi-state law firm with offices in Reno, Nevada. While at Downey Brand Mr. Darby continued to focus is practice on bankruptcy related matters, primarily representing banks and other creditors.
Ultimately, Mr. Darby determined that working for banks and large institutional creditors was less than fulfilling and decided to cross over to the other side to represent individuals and small businesses facing financial distress. Since making that decision, Kevin has represented countless individuals and small businesses in out-of-court debt restructuring and workouts, as well as Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
Mr. Darby is a member of the State Bar of Nevada, Washoe County Bar Association, 2001, Northern Nevada Bankruptcy Bar, the Federal Bar Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. Kevin was also a two-time recipient of the Tower of Strength Award from the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada.
Kevin has been a speaker for the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno and various other local business organizations. Kevin has also appeared on The Jon Sanchez Show and the Money Watch segment on KTVN Channel 2 News.
Kevin was fortunate enough to meet his beautiful and brilliant wife Tricia on the first day of law school. After earning a partnership offer from a large multi-state law firm where she worked representing banks for almost ten years, Tricia decided to join Kevin as a partner at Darby Law Practice, bringing her background as a bank attorney to the side of individuals and small businesses.
On a personal note, Kevin and Tricia have two beautiful young children, with whom they spend nearly all of their free time. Kevin is an avid fan and booster of University of Nevada athletics. Go Wolf Pack! Kevin grew up in Zephyr Cove, Nevada and considers himself a true native Nevadan.
