Aaron, Riechert, Carpol & Riffle, APC (ARCR) has been in existence in its current configuration since 1987. We actually began serving families and closely held businesses on the Peninsula in 1956, through our predecessor firm, Goth, Dennis & Aaron. Since its inception, the firm has been in Redwood City, located a few blocks away from the principal courthouse for San Mateo County.

The firm provides services in a broad range of practice areas, including but not limited to, estate planning, probate, trust law, conservatorships and guardianships, business and real estate law, and civil and probate litigation. ARCR has earned an enviable reputation, both with the courts and other attorneys, and has developed a solid diversified client base throughout the region. The firm has one of the most experienced and respected real estate and business attorneys in San Mateo County and multiple Certified Specialists in Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Law.

Riffle are both past presidents of the San Mateo County Bar and recipients of the San Mateo County Bar's highest awards. The firm has also been deeply committed to supporting the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County both financially and with lawyer, paralegal, and staff time and effort, to provide pro bono legal services to the disadvantaged.

Hired Attorney Melissa Karlsten

Still getting to know her, but she has been exemplary. Makes you feel very comfortable, even at a difficult time (me as a client in a new confusing experience of dealing with the estate of a recently deceased parent), and is always patient and empathetic when you don’t understand something. Well-prepared, very smart, and accessible - and she has waived some charges for short emails, which is a nice gesture. I don’t feel nickel-and-dimed. Superb work-product. Knows what she’s doing.

Hired Attorney Kathleen A. Durrans

I would give this attorney a negative review if I could. I plan to report her for providing my family with false information and for stealing our money. She failed to follow through on trust fund mediation or litigation. I strongly do not recommend h, as he treats the elderly and disabled poorly. She does not communicate or explain things clearly and has tried to rush my case without taking the necessary time or consideration. She also didn’t complete the mediation process and took advantage of the situation without settling anything. Overall, I cannot recommend her at all.

Hired Attorney James W. Murphy

- Negative stars, Attorney James Murphy is a bottom of the barrel snake attorney who makes a living off seniors. I would stay away from him, he represented my father in a conservatorship appointed case, which he excessively billed and didnt bother speaking to him about the bill. He sent his Bill straight to the court for approval without consulting his client who had questions and concerns about the high bill. $10k later we had to pay him for basically bloated hours like "preparing for a hearing" and "emails" and "Drafts" where he contributed nothing outside of what he was supposed to do. Avoid like the plague!

Hired Attorney Charles M. Riffle

Very poor lawyer. Charges top dollar for counterproductive results. Decision making is always in his interest, not the clients. Terrible fiduciary.
