About Patrick A. Johnson

Patrick concentrates his practice exclusively on the representation of residential landlords, property owners, investors, and management companies throughout the State of North Carolina, including eviction representation in Small Claims and District Court; fair housing defense, operational compliance, real estate litigation, business litigation, commercial collections, contract review and drafting, and day-to-day legal advice. Patrick also regularly teaches landlord-tenant law and fair housing educational seminars for apartment and property management associations and clients.

Patrick was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina and attended college at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill before attending Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson, Mississippi. Patrick began his legal career in 2007 as an associate attorney in a general practice firm in Clayton, North Carolina, where he focused his practice on civil litigation and criminal defense. From December 2012 through July 2021, Patrick practiced at Brownlee Law Firm, PLLC, which later became Brownlee Whitlow & Praet, PLLC. During his time with Brownlee, Patrick represented residential landlords, owners, and property management companies across North Carolina and litigated and counseled clients on thousands of landlord-tenant matters, including small claims evictions and money owed cases in small claims, District, and Superior Courts. With Patrick’s extensive experience representing the multifamily industry and residential landlords, Patrick understands the unique challenges and risks that residential landlords face and recognizes that oftentimes, the best legal answer is not always the best practical solution. As a result, Patrick prides himself on giving both the “legal” answer as well as the “business” answer to any situation facing his clients.

Patrick is extensively involved in volunteer work on behalf of the multifamily industry and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association; as the chair of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association’s Government Affairs Committee; on the Board of Directors of the Greater Charlotte Apartment Association’s Rental Housing Alliance Political Action Committee; and on the Apartment Association of North Carolina’s Government Affairs Committee.
