Brett Beaubien practices in Rhode Island and Massachusetts with a concentration on appeals and criminal defense. He has secured favorable results at the Rhode Island Supreme Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. His practice also encompasses DUI and criminal defense, RMV/DMV license matters, restraining order defense, clerk-magistrate hearings, expungements, post-conviction relief, sex offender classification proceedings, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection airport cash-seizure challenges. A Visiting Professor of Law at Roger Williams University School of Law, he teaches Criminal Litigation: Drafting and Advocacy (fall) and Criminal Procedure: Adjudication (spring). Brett’s path to law included a business degree from URI and operating a high-energy restaurant managing over 100 employees and a $6 million budget. At Roger Williams Law he earned top awards in criminal litigation and appellate writing, won moot court before the Rhode Island Supreme Court, published in the Law Review, and served as Student Chair of the disciplinary tribunal. He completed legal internships with the Defense Institute for International Legal Studies (Naval Station Newport) and the U.S. Navy JAG in Sicily, and now aggressively advocates for clients while serving on the Board of the Rhode Island Legal Education Foundation.
