Margaret Ryder is an Associate in the Labor & Employment Practice Group in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Her practice focuses on representing employers in a broad range of labor and employment matters, including claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and vicarious liability claims. She assists clients in litigation in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies, including the EEOC, PHRC, and PCHR. Her experience also includes the defense of class and collective actions and complex employment litigation matters. Margaret supports employers in navigating complex workplace issues with practical, business-focused solutions.
Margaret’s practice further includes advising employers on risk mitigation and compliance with federal and state employment laws. She works with clients on employment-related policies, workplace investigations, and dispute resolution strategies, helping them address issues efficiently while minimizing exposure.
Prior to joining Margolis Edelstein, Margaret served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable M. Susan Sheppard, Presiding Judge of General Equity in the New Jersey Superior Court, Atlantic and Cape May Counties. In that role, she gained substantial experience in motion practice, legal research, and case management across a wide range of civil matters. She was also trained as a court mediator and participated in Small Claims, Special Civil, and Landlord-Tenant mediations, assisting parties in reaching negotiated resolutions.
Margaret earned her Juris Doctor from Widener University Delaware Law School. While in law school, she served as a Staff Editor of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and was a student intern with the Environmental and Natural Resources Law Clinic. She also completed judicial externships with the Honorable Bret M. Binder of the Chester County Court of Common Pleas and the Honorable Paul R. Wallace of the Delaware Superior Court, Complex Commercial Litigation Division. Margaret received her Bachelor of Arts from West Virginia University, where she majored in Criminology and minored in Law & Legal Studies and Psychology.
She is developing a practice focused on representing employers in complex employment litigation and providing strategic, proactive counsel on workplace compliance and risk management.
