Freddy M. Godoy's legal journey commenced upon completing his dual degree in Political Science and Latin American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania College of Arts and Sciences, followed by his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. In September 2000, he embarked on his legal career as a Philadelphia County Prosecutor. His role in advocating for the rights of crime victims and competing against prominent criminal defense attorneys in Philadelphia honed his courtroom prowess. Over the years, he successfully handled more than 600 jury and non-jury trials across various units, including Municipal Court, Juvenile, Felony Waiver, and Major Trial Units, addressing a spectrum of crimes, from aggravated assaults to attempted murders and narcotics offenses. During his tenure under the Honorable Lynne M. Abraham, Freddy achieved an impressive track record, securing victory in over 70% of his major felony jury trials, and earning a reputation as an assertive trial attorney.
Even before graduating from law school, Freddy dedicated substantial hours to pro bono work in family law. As a board member for the Custody and Support Assistance Clinic (CASAC), he oversaw fellow law students in providing essential assistance to family law litigants in need. Following his law school journey, Freddy served as a law clerk for a distinguished judge in Philadelphia Family Court. In this capacity, he conducted legal research and authored judicial opinions for cases facing appeals. His meticulous attention to detail and strong writing skills were instrumental in crafting opinions that consistently withstood scrutiny at the Pennsylvania Superior and Supreme Courts. These same qualities have proven invaluable in both his family and criminal law practice.
In 2005, upon concluding his tenure at the District Attorney's Office, Freddy founded The Law Office of Freddy M. Godoy. His aim was to establish a comprehensive law firm exclusively dedicated to the practice areas of family law and criminal law. He recognizes the paramount importance of having an intricate understanding of the interplay between family and criminal law. Additionally, he possesses the unwavering confidence and skill set to fearlessly navigate courtrooms, challenge witness credibility, and secure favorable outcomes. Having experience on both sides of the legal spectrum, defending and prosecuting individuals in cases involving the safety of the community or personal liberty, Freddy brings a unique perspective and the determination to triumph in any legal dispute.
