What happens if I had a work injury and was later laid off from work?

Your work company claim was apparently closed. If so, there is not much you can do unless your condition has worsened. If it is still open and your doctor says you can't work then possibly you can get TPD benefits.

Michigan has a three year general statute of limitations on personal injury actions. In other words you case would have to be filed with three years from date of occurrence. There are certain exceptions and tolling provisions so contact an attorney immediately to discuss your course of action.

Based on what you have written here, you do have a case. But: would she have the resources to pay you anything? Would she stop what she's doing, or would a lawsuit make it worse?
