What will happen to me if a drunk driving accident sends someone into a coma?

Hudson Thomas Bair

You should consult a DUI attorney, they may be able to provide more information and facts that would make your story more realistic. An accident under your facts would likely be charged as a felony in most California counties.

Turn this over to your insurance company. Immediately. Today. Make several copies of the suit papers, deliver one to your agent (make him/her sign for it), send another to the claims department of the insurance company via certified mail. They will hire a lawyer to defend you. Co-operate with the insurance company to the fullest extent. If you have not yet been served with suit papers, notify the agent and claims department immediately and give them all of the information they ask for.

Is there anything I can do to prevent getting sued for an accident?

Paul L. Whitfield

The question is not whether your name as ID with a vin number. The question is who owns the car and who was driving. The owner and the driver are liable for most purposes not you as a previous owner.
