What can I do if I squeezed a person’s cheek saying how cute they were and they threw themselves on the floor and said they got hurt?

Answered by attorney Christian Frederick Paul (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Office of Christian F. Paul
If this person faked an injury and filed a false police report, she could end up regretting it, because that's a crime in itself. You don't say what the police did after she accused you, but obviously that can make a difference later on, if and when she sues you for the harm. If you are convicted of assault, that's a lot worse than if the police just shrug off the complaint as unbelievable. In case you are sued, you may want to have someone else pay for the defense and any damages assessed, so check your homeowner's insurance policy and any other policies to see if they might cover the claim. Also, write out a detailed account of what happened, answering all the reporter's questions who, what, when, where, why, how and including contact information for any witnesses. This will come in handy if you are sued. If you are served with a lawsuit for this, contact your insurer right away, and if you don't have any sort of insurance, or if the carrier refuses to pick up the defense, you need to consult an attorney to defend you.

Can I sue the owner of the dog who bit me?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
A lawyer would not be able to handle a $250 dog bite case. Talk to the owner and see what he will do. Sue him in the Judge Judy (small claims) court. You will have to prove the dog has a vicious propensity (has done this sort of thing before) and that may be difficult to do

Will I be awarded in both workers comp and civil case for having major injuries after being struck by a car while fighting a fire?

Answered by attorney Steven Joseph Kalishman (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Steven Kalishman, P.A. Law Offices
Yes, you can receive worker's comp benefits and maybe a lump sum settlement, as well as bodily injury liability benefits from the at-fault driver's insurance (if they had any), and PIP and uninsured motorist coverage from your auto insurance. The worker's comp carrier can assert a lien against your third party settlement.
