Can I sue a clothing company if I were electrically shocked by an elevator button?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Andrew Tyler Velonis (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
You'd probably be suing the elevator company, or perhaps the building owner, or maybe an elevator repair company if that is the situation. You will have to prove what happened, and that you were injured. Were emergency responders called to the scene? Did you report the incident when it happened? What were your injuries? What medical attention have you received? Will your dr be willing to testify that your injuries are due to this occurrence? As you can see, this would not be an easy case, and in any event, this is no job for amateurs.

How do I go about pressing charges on the owners of the dog that bit my 6 year old son?

Answered by attorney J. Michael End
Personal Injury lawyer at End, Hierseman & Crain LLC
The decision of whether or not to prosecute the owner of the dog is made by the city attorney, village attorney, or district attorney in the jurisdiction where the dog bite took place. There would have to have been some prior problems with the dog to warrant pursuing a criminal prosecution or ordinance violation case against the owner, in my opinion. Perhaps more to the point, your son is entitled to compensation for the injuries he suffered. If it can be proven that the dog injured someone before it bit your son, your son would be entitled to double the damages needed to compensate him for his injuries. I think you should find a lawyer who can help make sure that your son's rights are protected.
