My 16 year old son got in an automotive accident a couple of months ago and now the man is taking me to court?

Answered by attorney Kenneth G. Wincorn
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Kenneth G. Wincorn & Associates, P.C.
You should answer the suit and deny that you are responsible. Be sure to answer quickly as there may be a default judgment if you do not. You are only responsible for the injuries and damage if you allowed him to drive knowing that he should not drive or that he is a negligent or incompetent driver.

How do I deal with an auto insurance claim with no personal auto insurance?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Willie Stephen Graves (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Graves Law Firm
If you can continue to ignore them until two years after the incident, the statute of limitations will bar their claim IF YOU ARE IN TEXAS. THE LIMITATIONS PERIOD IS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT STATES. They may conclude that they're unlikely to get anything out of you since you have no money. The worst that can happen is that you might be sued in small claims court or county court.

What should I do after a car accident?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
You make sure to get medical care, otherwise the insurance carrier will ignore your complaints of pain. Get you a personal injury lawyer. Show up in traffic court and hope the bad guy gets convicted of hit and run. The insurance carrier would normally be expected to pay a claim like this (unless the car was stolen).
