In Michigan it is your insurer that pays for your property/collision damage. You can collect up to $1,000 from the other party, if they are @ fault as you suggest they were, to cover any deductible. It is also your own insurer that pays No Fault benefits to you, which are wage loss, medical treatment expenses and replacement services. You may sue the other driver/owner if you prove you suffered injuries that meet the Michigan No Fault threshold of a serious impairment of a body function. Based on your description of your injuries it does not appear as if you would meet the threshold, however, it is always best to get proper medical care, testing and treatment for any injuries and get a free consultation with a Michigan lawyer that regularly handles motor vehicle crash cases to discuss the specifics of your situation.

Does a doctor take you apart and not put you back the way you were if they said they would?

No, the doctor, just like you, has a right in fact a need to be paid for his services. I suspect that your husband would have been gravely ill, or dies, without the first surgery. That job is done, the reversal is another job and service. Check with your local social services agency to see if you qualify for assistance.

In general, suit for animals are limited in value to their cost. No matter how much the animal means to the family, the limitation is there.
