1) Demand copies of all records concerning your mother from 10 days prior to the incident to the present. Everything; medical, visitation, dietary, OT/PT, labs, financial, everything. 2) File a written complaint with the state agency that regulates nursing homes in your state. Follow up, politely, patiently and persistently. These things take a long time, but stay cool and stick with it. 3) See if you can arrange for an in-person meeting with the director of the home. If they agree, express your concerns without accusations, conclusions or threats. Politely insist that they investigate the matter, follow-up and take action.

Can we sue for pain and suffering of my 4 year old child being burned?

Cant imagine adults being stupid enough to let kids play around an open fire pit. You can sue the owners. They may have homeowners insurance and if they don't you may get a lien against their house.

You should definitely report the headaches to your employer. You should also consult a doctor to see what might be causing the headaches. If it is determined that the headaches are resulting from a concussion or an impact to the head resulting from a fall, then you may have workers compensation case.
