Am I allowed to collect on a settlement on my son’s behalf since he is not 18 yet?

Answered by attorney J. Michael End
Personal Injury lawyer at End, Hierseman & Crain LLC
I think you should hire a lawyer to help you determine whether the settlement was a reasonable one in light of your son's injuries, whether the dog had bitten before, which would warrant double damages, and to make sure any lien by your health insurance company has been satisfied. Wisconsin law requires court approval of all settlements involving injuries to minors.

Is a dismissal necessary because I missed time for service deadline?

Pius Joseph
Answered by attorney Pius Joseph (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Pius Joseph
There is no need to dismiss . You ask the court for additional time for service since there is "good cause" for delay in service.

Answered by attorney Jon F. Schmoll

If you have insurance on your automobile, you should have uninsured motorist coverage (UM). Your own insurance company is obligated to pay whatever damages you are legally entitled to recover from the uninsured motorist up to the limits of your UM coverage.
