Can I reschedule an order to show cause?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Brett Edward Rosenthal (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Graves Law Offices
You can contact the clerk of the court in which the matter is scheduled to be heard and request they change the date. The difficulty is that if the Order to show cause is requiring your appearance typically you didn't do something that the rules or the court required and that is the reason the court scheduled an Order to show cause to begin with and therefore the court may not be real receptive to moving the hearing date.

Can I file a lawsuit if my child contracted a viral mouth infection at an apartment complex?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
You would have to prove that the virus was caused by some neglect of the apartment complex and that the virus was directly contracted because of that neglect. It would take some powerful doctor testimony and maybe some fancy lab work. I don't think a claim would fly unless you have the above. You would also have to prove the complex knew of the problem (or should have known) and failed to do anything to correct it. It is all uphill and expensive. I doubt if you can make such a claim successfully.

What should I do after a car accident?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Donald Keith Broad (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Broad Law Firm, LLC
Assuming you have insurance information and at a bare minimum contact information for this person, and assuming the accident occurred within the applicable statute of limitations (2 years in Indiana), you should pursue a claim with his insurance company. I suggest you consult with a local personal injury attorney to determine if your claim is worth pursuing.
