Do we have a case if there was no rug or sign at the entrance of a fast-food chain where I slipped and hit the floor?

No, you don't. You are aware as anyone that on rainy days water gets tracked into a building. You also know from life experience that when a smooth floor such as tile or linoleum gets wet, it can be slippery. So, a sign would only have told you something you already knew. Plus, there was a sign. Finally, aches and sprains are not severe enough for a lawyer to spend time and money on.

How much do workman's compensation cases pay for a torn disk and permanent spine damage?

Settlement is based on percentage of disability as found by the dr (is there any?) times two-thirds your average weekly wage up to a cap times the number of weeks allocated by statute to the body part all basic math and really depends on what the doctor says

Can I offer a flat fee for my lawyer in lieu of hourly billing?

Answered by attorney Michael Alexander Yurasov-Lichtenberg (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Havens Lichtenberg PLLC
There is no way to assess your offer without knowing specifics of the case, the expected length of the litigation, the amount of work the attorney would have, the amount of the necessary out-of-pocket expenses, the chances of winning, the amount of the judgment or settlement that can be expected, etc. Besides, it is a futile effort: the attorney you wish to retain does not have to take your case at all, and, definitely, does not have to accept your offer of compensation for his work, no matter how viable or reasonable - and what other attorneys on LawQ&A think about it makes no difference. So you have a choice: you can agree to pay what the attorney you wish to retain asks - or you can look for another attorney who would agree to the fee you are willing to offer.
