Can an insurance company charge me for repairs that cost more than the value of a vehicle?

Answered by attorney Mark Richard West (Unclaimed Profile)

Is this a vehicle you hit and they want to charge your insurance company that much? Or do you not have insurance and they are going after you personally? How do you know the value of the car? In general, if the repairs to a vehicle cost more than the value of the vehicle, the insurance company will total the vehicle and pay the fair market value of the car. They shouldn't be charging you for property damage more than what they pay out. You should discus all of the factors with an attorney, or at least your own insurance company if you had insurance.

LOOKING FOR A LAWYER TO DEFEND IN LAW SUITE FOR NEGLIGENCE AUTO

Answered by attorney Stephen Arnold Black
Personal Injury lawyer at The Law Office of Stephen A. Black
Normally, any household member who is a relative of the insured is automatically on the insurance policy of the car owner. However, if your resident relative was using the vehicle for a business purpose as opposed to personal use, then your carrier may deny coverage. You should seek a consultation with a lawyer in your jurisdiction to review the policy language for specific advice.

How much compensation is a bone and left hand injury worth?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney David Alexander Easson (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at David A. Easson
It depends. Are you left handed? Any permanent disability in hand? What are your lost wages? What do you do for a living? Are there any problems proving the liability of the defendant(s) in your case?
