Personal Injury lawyer at The Lucky Law Firm, PLC
Yes, you need to contact an attorney. You should also get a copy of the accident report to see how it was written by the investigating officer. You should definitely pursue the defendant's insurance as well.

If I have a major medical issue without insurance and am willing to make small monthly payments, can they seize my house?

Answered by attorney Leonard T Schwartz (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Slotnick & Schwartz
It is more likely that they will let you make payments. Otherwise if they get a judgment they can put the house up for sheriff sale but it is subject to paying off all mortgage liens first.
