If my son had a minor accident and the car is still under my name, will I be liable?

Pius Joseph

Yes you are liable as the owner in California. I suggest you turn the matter to your insurance company and let them take care of it. Hopefully your son is not an excluded driver under your policy and everything should be OK.

Is there a limited amount of time to wait on an answer after your hearing on a workman’s compensation claim?

Shouldn't take that long. Ask your comp lawyer about this. Oh, don't have one? Well, there's your problem, right there.

What amount am I looking at for an injury?

Assuming you are referring to a personal injury case and not a workers' compensation case, you are entitled to be "compensated" or "made whole" for your injuries and damages. There is no "magic formula" or "set amount" to determine how much a personal injury case is worth. Each case is dependent on its own facts. There are a number of different factors that determine how much money you are entitled to, including, but not limited to: whether an injury is permanent; how the injury affected you while you recovering; medical expenses; lost wages; pain and suffering; and inconvenience. If an injury is permanent, you are entitled to money, if applicable, for these items in the future as well. You calculate future money based on projections/ estimates (i.e. future medical expenses) and your life expectancy. While you indicate that your back was injured and have had surgery, you do not provide enough information about the other factors listed for me to be able to tell you much your case might be worth. I would suggest contacting a personal injury attorney to discuss your case. Most offer a free initial consultation and you can get more information about the value of your case.
