Can I sue for injury because of electrical shock?

David F. Stoddard
Answered by attorney David F. Stoddard (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The David F. Stoddard Law Firm
You can. How much you get, however, will depend on how severely you were injured. If it resolves with no further problem, you may want to settle out of court for your medical bills.

Am i liable for a verizon contractor getting hurt at my home?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Brett Edward Rosenthal (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Graves Law Offices
You can tell someone who is in your home performing work but to the extent you maintain conditions in your home that pose a danger to others, than you could potentially be liable to that person. However, Verizon as his employer will have worker's compensation insurance and he will be treated under that coverage, but that doesn't preclude him, or Verizon for that matter from pursuing subrogation against you for maintaining your home in a dangerous condition. Which I am not indicating you did, however, that is their contention and you can deny his request to provide your homeowner's insurance information, which may prompt either the injured party to just file suit against you requiring that you then tender it to your homeowner's carrier, or provide that information to him now and let your homeowner's insurer do what you are paying them for, which is to defend you in the event of a claim.

Is my husband liable for the accidents that happened in the last two months?

Answered by attorney Britany Michelle Engelman
Personal Injury lawyer at Engelman Law, APC
Yes, you are at risk of being sued. Whether or not the lawsuit against you is successful will depend on if you and your husband were negligent in entrusting your car to your brother-in-law. This will depend on a number of factors. If you are sued, your insurance company will more often than not pay for your defense attorney. You may be responsible for any resulting settlement or verdict that is in excess of your insurance policy limits.
