Do I have to be at a workers comp hearing if I have an attorney?

David B. Rechtman

#1 Ask your Georgia Attorney. He/she knows your case & would be able to correctly answer the question. If you don't trust your lawyer, you do have the right to change attorneys. #2 The answer in most (but not all) instances is YES; Georgia workers compensation judges usually require injured employees to come to court in Georgia. The thinking is: "you are bringing a Georgia claim & we can require you to come to Georgia to get favorable action relating to that claim."

What is considered fair monetary settlement for being hit and forced off the road by an 18-wheeler, which is a company truck driven by the owner?

The statute of limitations for a personal injury case in Oregon is two years. Go see a personal injury attorney about this and take along a letter from your primary doctor setting out a brief statement of the nature of your injuries. Also, get a copy of the accident report from the police so the lawyer can see if the truck driver was cited.

Can I be sued for a dog bite?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Ronald Arthur Lowry (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Office of Ronald Arthur Lowry
Anyone can sue anybody for anything but the plaintiff has to prove a winnable case in court in order to recover. That said, you have a lot of defenses. The victim came on your property, inside a fence plus the dog had not bitten anyone before so you would not be on notice of any vicious propensities of the dog. If you get sued for this turn over the suit papers to your homeowners' insurance company. The insurer has to provide you a defense and pay for the attorney plus pay any judgment up to the policy limit and they are experts at this. Let them handle itif it even comes to that.
