Can I sue my dad for sexually abusing me as a child?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
There is a fairly long statute of limitations for sexual abuse, and it has changed several times in the past few years. The latest I know is that the lawsuit must be brought before the victim's 35th birthday. So you should consult a lawyer very soon. Among other considerations: do your parents have enough money to pay a serious judgment? After all, you could get a judgment against them and it would be meaningless if they have no, or few, non-exempt assets. Also, proving that their wrong-doing was the direct, proximate, natural cause of your suffering will require at least one expert psychiatric witness.

What are the rights of an unmarried woman with children of the deceased if they were living together at the time of death?

James Peirce Kelaher
Answered by attorney James Peirce Kelaher (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Kelaher Law Offices, P.A.
Assuming he died without a will, the children will be able to inherit his property if he acknowledged paternity (i.e., his name is on their birth certificate as the father) but the mother of the children could not inherit.

What are my liability if my brother wrecked a rental car on my name?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Paul Whitfield and Associates P.A.
Might depend on who you believe. Some might say you gave your brother permission. You might also read all your contract documents carefully. there may be a provision that covers the situation. See a lawyer and give him all details.
