Is it considered fraud if they charged me for work that wasn't done?

It sounds like you may have a case. Did the oil change service company alert you to the leak? Did the engine completely lock up afterwards due to no oil in the engine? Was anyone injured as a result or are the injuries purely property related? I would certainly consider having a lawyer review all the available information and the specific damages resulting from the negligent behavior of the company.

Can I go to jail if I am being sued?

Answered by attorney Kenneth G. Wincorn
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Kenneth G. Wincorn & Associates, P.C.
You cannot be prosecuted criminally for a civil debt. The only time you can be jailed is if you refuse to obey a court order. This is a civil process that comes about when you are ordered to appear and don't. You cannot be jailed for not paying by itself. It is best to answer questions and appear if subpoenaed.

If I have a major medical issue without insurance and am willing to make small monthly payments, can they seize my house?

Personal Injury lawyer at Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP
Very likely, No. Keep making payments and work with your providers. Also, try to get some insurance somewhere, perhaps talking to the counselors at your local hospital or DSS office. Also, consider charitable organizations. Get well soon.
