Am I responsible for my ex medical bills if my daughter hit and broke my ex’s nose?

David F. Stoddard
Answered by attorney David F. Stoddard (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The David F. Stoddard Law Firm
I do not believe that you are medically responsible. In South Carolina, it is not illegal to record telephone conversations that you are a party to. It might be helpful if you had some corroborating evidence of the ex's threat to press charges if you do not pay her bills. This type of threat is a crime, blackmail. The State may refuse to prosecute if the prosecutor were made aware of such a threat.

Am I entitled to copies of legal documents I have signed in a lawsuit?

You should have been told about liens before you accepted the settlement. You could tell them to take it out of their fee since they didn't tell you. Also, you should be given copies of your own file for free you are entitled to it by law.

How do I start the process to sue huge company?

Answered by attorney Andrew Tyler Velonis (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
There are two things you have to do. First is to provide a lot more information e.g., what happened that you claim there was negligence, what the negligence did to you, what evidence you have, when it happened, what investigation has been made so far, out of pocket expenses, permanent injuries would be a start. Second is to get a lawyer. Whatever you think the problem is, this is not a DYI project.
