Does the amount of my settlement have anything to do with how much Medicare will have me pay?

Paul L. Whitfield
Answered by attorney Paul L. Whitfield (Unclaimed Profile)

Not sure I understand the question the way it is phrased but, your settlement will take into consideration how much / Medicare YOU have to pay rather than the total amount of your bills Medicare will do what it will do and that indirectly affects your settlement. You cant control any of it so why worry about it. take care of yourself, get well and make sure your lawyer has all the bills of whatsoever kind you receive.

What can I do if I was injured but was refused help?

It's not the issue of the band-aid, its the glass that injured you. A property owner or business proprietor can be held liable for known hazards that could foreseeably result in injury. In order to make a claim the injured party has to show either that the owner knew or should have known of the hazard, had an opportunity to correct it, and failed to take action or that the property owner created the hazard. But there is another possibility: some property liability insurance policies include a provision called a "medical payments provision". Although it is not required, this provision will pay medical expenses up to a certain amount, regardless of fault

Do law firms have to give monthly receipts of payment?

I'm confused. Is State Farm your carrier? If so, why is it defending you if you didn't have insurance? If a carrier assigns a law firm to defend someone under an insurance policy, the person does not have to pay anything to the law firm .
