If there is no durable power of health care advocate, the Hospital is on its own in decision making. As an adult, the Hospital is prevented from disseminating information to third parties without a release. The privacy concerns trump the family. I am sorry for your loss.

You probably had medical payments coverage and that usually lasts for injuries for one year. the normal statute of limitation is 3 years so you are probably out of luck by now on both counts.
